Why Untethered?
Learning doesn't have to be tied to the classroom, one's grade level, or a particular subject. My cross-curricular approach and location flexibility allow me to meet students where they are, both literally and figuratively.
Whether you are seeking academic support or looking for extracurricular enrichment, these personalized programs can take learners to the next level.
My services are meant to help young people build on existing strengths, improve areas of frustration & difficulty, and unlock hidden potential in order to foster a sense of empowerment.
About Ryan
Born and raised in rural New England, I discovered teaching and tutoring during my college years in Bennington, Vermont. Early success in building relationships and helping students gain academic confidence motivated me to pursue a career in education.
A wandering cross-country road trip brought me to the West Coast in 2015, where I landed a fellowship and honed my skills as an elementary and middle school teacher. After six years working in Santa Barbara private schools, I decided to step outside the classroom to provide the individualized support that I recognized my students needed.
Aside from tutoring, I am a hot air balloon pilot, hiker, skier, and outdoor educator who spends summers leading wilderness programs for children and young adults.
